Bank partners with school

Farmers Security Bank is looking to help the students of Washburn become more monetarily savvy by providing them with access to web-based financial programs.
The bank is currently in the process of partnering with the school to introduce the Everfi Financial Literacy learning program, which will help high school students gain the confidence and ability to make informed decisions in the financial world. The program is being offered at no cost to the school.
"Farmers Security Bank has made this commitment in our community because of our strong belief that if we can better educate the students of today, then they will become the financially responsible citizens of tomorrow," said Julie Broderick, President of Farmers Security Bank.
The program includes information on saving, budgeting, student loans, credit and debit cards, mortgages, taxes and credit scores, all provided in an easy-to-understand and compelling format. The Everfi website stated that the programs include the use of video, animations, 3-D gaming, avatars and social networking.
