Auction, talent show, dinner planned for local benefit

Benefit will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 14 at the Memorial Building in Washburn

The community support has been overflowing a local resident’s cup as they rallied together to help him out. “It makes me proud to be
a Washburnian,” said Aaron Jacobs. Jacobs has spent the last couple of months battling a soft-tissue infection in his jaw originating from an infected tooth. The tooth’s removal led to a series of surgeries, which resulted Jacobs spending a couple days on a ventilator. He was recently able to come home from Fargo and even started back to work at Scott’s Hardware working reduced hours. Jacobs moved to Washburn about three years ago, and he said he came from a town of about 30,000 people so the community outpouring has been “incredible.” “The community has really come together for me,” he said.
