The North Dakota Attorney General’s office has asked for more information regarding a petition to remove the president of the Washburn City Commission.
After collecting more than twice the amount of required signatures, a petition to remove the mayor of Washburn was sent to Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem on Aug. 19.
The petition, which gathered a total of 71 signatures, requested the removal of Larry Thomas, president of the Washburn City Commission.
Listed reasons for removal include “Knowingly and with purpose breaking open meeting laws,” “Disregarding City Ordinances and interpretation of Ordinances,” “Employee retaliation and discrimination” and “Abandonment of duty through lack of contact via phone, email, or in person and refusal to engage with city employees.”
