Commission debates dog ordinance
A months-long debate continued at Washburn City Hall last week, with a resident repeatedly asking permission to keep the eight dogs commissioners have ordered him to house elsewhere.
Storm tears through area
Washburn and Wilton residents woke up Friday to find electricity out and landlines inoperable after an overnight storm splintered apart power lines and littered much of McLean County with broken branches and debris.
Swallowed by the river
Shorelines, residential lawns and boat docks were swallowed up by rising waters this week, as increased releases from the Garrison Dam deepened the Missouri River in Washburn by over two feet in seven days.

Red, White and Blue, this Fair’s For You is the theme of this year’s McLean County, and 4-H and FFA youth, as well as open class competitors, will be vying for red, white or blue ribbons, with the most accomplished competitors earning some fabulous pink and purple rosette Reserved and Grand Champion ribbons that they’ll treasure for years to come.
City approves funding requests
Two separate requests for Washburn Sales Tax funds were approved Monday by the city commission, with money going to the Washburn Senior Center and the Memorial Building.

Bluegrass festival rounding the corner
