Washburn school looks to trim project cost
Members of the Washburn School Board were in agreement on two major points of last week’s board meeting:
Homecoming

As the table rolled to the next student, that student ran to front to keep the table going down the gym floor. Each team had to make it from one end of the gym to the other.
‘The cost of education doesn’t go down’
Wilton taxpayers will see only a small increase as the school looks to raise mills slightly to cover a portion of the 2023 budget.
Library board votes against ‘politically driven’ diversity grant
Board members acknowledged the turnout to Monday’s library board meeting was a first in almost a decade as they heard from several members of the community about a diversity grant the board was considering.

Extension office to seek agent for vacancy
WASHBURN – The North Dakota State University Extension Office is on the search for a new Family Community Wellness Agent. At the McLean County Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, Extension District Director asked the commissioners their thoughts on seeking to fill the vacancy.

Washburn Public Schools held a meeting to discuss possible capital updates to roll into the potential new school project.
Safety corridors help reduce crashes
WASHBURN – A safety corridor installed here two years ago by the North Dakota Highway Patrol has reduced the number of fatal and severe crashes between 15 to 65 percent.
