Underwood snares three

The Underwood Comet girls added three more notches to their victory belt this past week, including a key 55-52 District 10 win over Garrison Thursday night.
All three of the wins were on the Comets’ home court, as they knocked off New Salem last Monday by the score of 65-27, then finished up the week’s action with a 48-43 win over Killdeer Saturday night.
The Comets struggled to get their post offense going Saturday night, as the Comets pulled out the five-point win using the drive from the outside and long bombs, as only three Comets hit the scoreboard in the win against the Cowboys.
After taking a 15-point lead into the fourth quarter, the Comets struggled to find the hoop, scoring only eight points. Conversely, Killdeer senior forward Trae Murray tossed in eight points all by herself the final stanza, leading the Cowboys in a comeback that fell just short.
All three of Underwood’s scorers were in double digits, with senior Mackenzie Snyder leading the way with 22 points. Fellow senior McKenna Wilson was good for 14 points, including four three-pointers, and sophomore Taysha Snyder was good for 12 points.
Thursday’s game against district foe Garrison saw the Troopers also forge a comeback late in the game, wiping out a nine-point third-stanza lead, chipping away at the Comets’ lead before falling by the score of 55-52.
