The Garrison-Max-Central McLean Titans went 1-3 at this past weekend’s Surrey Tournament in Surrey. The lone win came against Watford City Saturday. The win, 10-2, avenged a pair of losses to the Walleye July 6. The setbacks in the tournament came against Surrey (12-0), Bottineau (16-0) and Rolette (13-3). In spite of a 1-3 mark at the tourney, Coach Nathan Turck observed that the team played well – it’s just that the competition was against some of the top teams in the region. "Surrey, Bottineau, and Rolette are in the same region (with Velva) and Rolette is actually winning it with Surrey, Bottineau, and Velva trading games to give you an example of the competition," Turck said. "The other team was Watford City who we lost to the other night." Turck said the Titans used the tournament as a learning experience. "We played really well, and learned we can play with some of the better teams in the state," he said. "A timely hit and things would have changed drastically."
