Softball girls look for better bat results

The Cougar girls are looking to get their mojo back this Saturday at the Central McLean Jamboree after suffering a couple losses this past week on the softball diamond.
The Cougars fell to Washburn 9-2 and Heart River 15-2 this week, making too many costly errors and giving up too many key hits that scored multiple runners.
The Cougars dug themselves a hole against Washburn early, trailing 8-0 before they scored their first run in the fourth inning.
Rookie pitcher Bailey Gross was on the hill for the first few innings against Washburn before ace pitcher Sophie Sparrow took over in the fourth, limiting the Cards to just one more run in the game.
“We did a good job of shutting them down. We just didn’t get any key hits that could bring us back in the game,” said Central McLean Coach Zach Siewert. “It’s pretty hard to win a game when you only score two runs.”
Gross took the loss on the hill as the Cougars counted only three hits for the game. Sophie Sparrow went 1-for-4 with a double, scoring one run, while Sidney Fischer singled, scoring on a fielder’s choice.
