Sellon qualifies in long jump

The Cougars saw their first state qualifier in girls competition this past week as the Cougars flexed their muscle in the field events. Last Tuesday, May 8, Central McLean’s Mariah Sellon nabbed the Cougar girls first state qualifying finish this past week, placing second in the long jump at Fessenden with a leap of 16-7.75, outdistancing the qualifying distance of 16-5. Kady Rath added 10 points for the Cougar girls, winning the discus competition with a throw of 99-5. On the track, Sellon placed third in the mile with a time of 5:52.14 and was a member of the third-place mile relay team which finished with a time of 4:30.94. Joining Sellon on the mile relay team was the girls’ top points-earner, Madison Holm, who scored 23.5 of the team’s 59 points, along with Caitlyn Berg and Chailee Berg. Holm also snared a first-place finish in the 400 with a time of 1:02.24, and third in the 100 with a time of 13.64. The Berg sisters each brought home a sixth-place finish in individual events, with Caitlyn placing sixth in the 100 with a time of 14.14, while Chailee placed sixth in the 200 with a time of 29.64.
