Relays just shy of SQ; Dammen SQs in shot

Three of Central McLean’s girls’ relay teams are close to qualifying for state by time, while in boys’ competition, thrower Nicholas Dammen hit his second state qualifying mark – this time in the shot put.
Dammen has already qualified in the discus, but Saturday Dammen earned his state berth in the shot put, with his toss of 47-1.5, bettering the qualifying standard of 46-9.
Jacob Kibler, however, brought home the top finish at Saturday’s Shiloh Invitational, placing first in the triple jump with his leap of 35-11.
In girls’ action Saturday, the 400 and 3200-meter relay teams both brought home second-place finishes, with the 400 team of Taysha Snyder, Emily Eichhorst, Mackenzie Snyder and Madison Holm finishing with a time of :53.92 – state-qualifying time of 52.84.
That same team ran the 400 relay Thursday, finishing second with a time of 53:44, getting edged out at the finish.
