The Cougars played a marathon game of softball Monday night against the DesLacs-Burlington Lakers as the softball game went into extra innings before the Lakers were able to pull out the 14-13 win.
The Cougars made a battle out of a game that started to look like it would be an easy win for the Lakers early on, as the Cougars were held scoreless the first three innings while DLB crossed the plate seven times.
The Cougars rallied the next few innings to tie the game at 10, neither team scoring in the eighth or ninth innings. The Lakers iced the win by outscoring Central McLean 4-3 in the 10th inning.
Earlier in the week, the Cougars finished a double-header at 1-1 against the Lakers, while they won both ends of a double-header with Wilton-Wing 12-9 and 20-10.
The Cougar girls are having a lot of success in this, their second year of softball.
"We did a nice job of hanging on to defeat Wilton," commented Cougar coach Kyle Hunt. "We got the bats going a little too late against DLB, and ran out of time. We also gave them a few runs on a couple of fielding errors.
