Kaos going to big dance

A group of young basketball players has found a way to make chaos work for them.
Actually, it’s the members of Kaos, pronounced chaos, that have been doing the work – working hard enough and well enough together to earn the right to play in the Pacesetter Great Five-State Championship at the Target Center in Minneapolis this June.
Kaos, which is made up of mostly sixth graders, with a few fourth and fifth-graders from Underwood, Garrison and Washburn, is advancing to the five-state tournament after taking the title in two preliminary tournaments last month.
They first won the ND Class B 6thgrade division tournament in Jamestown and they went on to win the Border Battle, defeating North Dakota’s Milnor-North Sargent and South Dakota’s Mobridge-Pollock to earn the right to advance to the big dance at the Target Center.
The team is coached by Ethan Vaagene, assisted by Krist Kjelstrup. Most of the players have been playing together since they were in the second grade, noted Vaagene.
“They started playing “Y” ball together in second grade, then they started playing travel ball in the third grade,” recalled Vaagene.
