It’s ‘berger’ time - Brooke’s buzzer beater beats Bison

Underwood sophomore Brooke Weisenberger had the "perfect end to a wild game," Saturday night when she knocked down a buzzer-three-pointer from half-court as the home-standing Comets outlasted the Hazen Bison 37-36.
Underwood Coach Toni Cottingham is the one who described it as the "perfect end" as she had watched her team and the Bison grapple through four quarters of physical basketball, the Comets finding themselves trailing with 36-34 with just six seconds remaining in the game when Hazen’s Krista Slaubaugh knocked down a pair of free throws.
Cottingham immediately called time out, giving the Comets the ball at midcourt.
"We knew we had just a few seconds, with time for just a few dribbles . . . we got the ball to Brooke . . . she got that little run up and I guess the rest of it was just awe."
Awesome, she meant, as the scene immediately turned into mayhem with the team and the crowd. Even a couple of the Hazen players could be seen smiling, impressed with the final-second shot.
Weisenberger finished the game with six points, while freshman Mackenzie Snyder led the team in scoring with 13 points. Although the stats weren’t complete yet as of Sunday night, Cottingham gave a pat on the back to senior Erin Dammann, who had a big part in shutting down Hazen’s offense.
