Central McLean’s girls will be making the trip to the State Golf Tournament after placing second as a team in the Region 4 Tournament held last Friday in Rugby.

Rugby owned the team competition with a score of 400, while the Cougars placed second with 439, followed by Garrison in third place with a 451.

"Rugby actually won it running away, which we expected," commented CM coach Toni Cottingham. "All six of their players are strong . . . and they’re actually looking to compete at the state level – they’re one of the top teams."

Cottingham is aiming for a top-10 finish for the Cougars, who should be spearheaded by the two senior golfers who qualified for state individually, Lindsey Duben, who finished fourth over the 18-hole course with a 100, while Krista Blotske finished seventh with a 102, both making the cut for the state individual competition.
