Girls relay teams heading to state meet

By Suzanne Werre, BHG News Service

The Central McLean girls mile and half-mile relay teams qualified for state this past Saturday after placing third at the South Central Regional track meet at the Bismarck Bowl. Following the restructuring of the track regions, the top three finishers (formerly two) in each of the events at regionals now advance to the state meet this weekend. Members of the third-place 800-meter relay team are Caitlyn Berg, Chailee Berg, Emily Eichhorst and Madison Holm.  They placed third with a time of 1:54.53.  The same four runners also qualified their 1600-meter relay with a time of 4:20.9. The girls team finished in fifth place overall with 40.5 points, while Carrington won the team competition with 211.5 points. Joining the relay team at state will be newly-qualified two-mile runner Josh Hanson, who placed third in that event with a time of 11:11.91, as well as Dillon Aldinger, who already qualified in the discus, but made his presence known once again with his first-place toss of 152-8.  The Cougar boys placed ninth as a team with 43 points, while Hazen won with 128 points.
