Former UHS student starter for U of Mary

After Underwood’s Willie Wenschlag suffered a season-ending knee injury while playing football for the University of Mary, his family bought him a deluxe Lazy Boy chair. While the son of Rachel Wenschlag enjoys the comfortable seat, his head coach doesn’t think he will be confined to it any longer than necessary. Myron Schulz is confident that Wenschlag will be successful in rehabilitating the knee, which suffered tears to the medial and lateral meniscus, anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament. "If anyone can handle going through this, he will be able to," Schulz said. "He is tough mentally and physically." That toughness helped Wenschlag earn what was to be a starting role with the Marauders defense this season. Schulz said the 6-foot-1, 230-pound linebacker was coming on very strong. In three games this season, he had recorded three solo and eight assisted tackles. "He is big, strong, he knows the defense inside and out and he is tough," Schulz said. "We are playing in such a physical league (the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference), so it is a big loss to lose someone like him."
