The annual Blue Goose Day Event, July 14, at Audubon Refuge, was a success.
That’s how Jackie Jacobson, the Refuge’s visitor services planner, describes last week’s activity.
"The focus of this event is to provide youth with outdoor skill-building opportunities," Jacobson said.
Families rotated through four field demonstrations, including: shooting archery, building an ice fishing rod, shooting air rifles and BB guns, and building a screech owl nesting box.
A total of 89 youth participants, 32 girls and 57 boys, participated. Of those, 46 youth were first time event attendees. Seventy adults accompanied the youth.
