Elementary Cross Country team grows

Although the Underwood elementary cross-country program is in its first year, 18 students have joined the team. At last weekend’s North
Dakota Youth Cross Country Championship in Parshall, 11 more pre-k through third grade students joined. Twentyfour finished in the top 10. “I added 11 pre-k through third grade runners just at the last meet,” Coach Ronda Knutson said. “I was very proud of the team. They pushed themselves to limits beyond what they thought they could do. Everyone has cut time throughout the season. It’s fun to watch them get better.” The elementary crosscountry program isn’t officially sanctioned. Younger runners are permitted to run in certain meets, but not all.
