Penalties have been the bane of the Cougar gridders’ existence this fall and that proved to be true again Friday night as Central McLean had two touchdowns called back due to penalties – on the Cougars’ first possession of the game, and the other on the Cougars’ last possession of the game -- saddling them with a 42-40 loss against Towner- Granville-Upham.
Defense was not in the forefront of the game which saw both teams score three touchdown the first half, going into half-time knotted at 20.
Central McLean’s Easton Frey scored two of his three touchdowns for the game in the first stanza, romping into the end zone from the four-yard line early, then following up with a 30-yard jaunt for the score. Towner’s two touchdowns were using the passing game, scoring on a 35-yarder and a 27-yarder the first stanza.
