Coyotes put kibosh on Comets

The Underwood Comets saw their hopes of advancing to the state volleyball tournament quashed Monday night during first-round action of the Region 5 tournament.
Grant County bumped the Comets out of further action by handing Underwood a 3-1 loss at Shiloh.
Going into the third set tied, Grant County won the first set 25-22 and Underwood won the second set by the same score, the Comets struggled in game three, falling by the score of 25-16.
They weren’t done fighting, though, as the Comets led the Coyotes 22-20 late in the game before Grant County swung the momentum its way, erasing the Comets’ lead and taking the 27-25 game and match win.
Underwood Coach Mary Hefta, who was named Region 5 Coach of the Year by her peer coaches, says the Comets knew going into the tournament that the competition was going to be tough.
