All those reps of free throws paid off for the Central McLean Cougars Thursday night in Turtle Lake as the homestanding Cougars knocked down 11 of 13 free throws in double-overtime to outlast an athletic Kidder County Wolves team.
The score was knotted at 59 at the end of regulation after Kidder County’s Payton Cauthen scored from inside to tie the score with 48 seconds remaining, sending the game into overtime.
It would take two extra short stanzas for the Cougars to come away with the win, going to the charity stripe to secure the win. Central McLean hit 11 free throws in overtime while Kidder County counted three of only six free throw attempts during the extra frames.
