A match between two McLean County teams ended with the central team taking a victory against their northern neighbors last Friday evening as the Central McLean Cougars won against South Prairie-Max Royals, 64-36.
The teams kicked the game off tying – and then breaking the ties. Azjiah Trader and Summer Krebsbach started things off for the Royals, but the Cougars’ Kjellstrup and Lexie Jacobson quickly matched them. As the quarter progressed, the Cougars gained the upper hand with
Ashtyn Smith, Adlyn Eng and Daisy Sparrow bringing the score up to 16-12 by the end of
the quarter.
Going into the second quarter with a four-point lead, the Cougars used that to their advantage. Kjellstrup and Eng quickly scored four points. Trader broke the momentum, but Kjellstrup shot back with two free-throws and Smith with a two-pointer.
