Cougars thump Raiders in opener

The Central McLean Cougars started the 2017 season with a wallop Friday night, thumping Drake-Anamoose by the score of 58-22, on the Raiders’ home turf.
When asked who had a good game against D-A, Cougar co-coach Grant Singer had a hard time coming up with any names. Nobody had a spectacular game, but a lot of people had a pretty good game, he said.
Four different Cougars scored touchdowns for the Cougars, including two punt returns for TDs by Hunter Jacobs, who apparently decided it was quicker to just score on the punt return rather than set the offense up.
Jacobs also scored the Cougars’ first touchdown of the season, hauling the ball in from 15 yards out on the way to a 30-0 first-stanza lead for the Cougars.
Singer praised Jacobs in his second year as starting quarterback.
“He threw the ball well, and he made some good decisions,” said Singer.
