Cougars sunk by buzzer beater
The Cougar girls found themselves on the losing end of a buzzer-beater shot by Center- Stanton’s Kathryn Kraft in their final regular-season game this past Tuesday, as the Wildcat turned back the Cougars by the score of 50-49.
Senior guard Sophie Sparrow paced the Cougars Taya Hornberger hitting double-digits with 13 points. Kraft was joined by teammate Katie Frank at 11 points, while Hannah Hoffman was good for 10 points.
The loss set the stage for the Cougars to take the number four seed into this week’s District 10 tournament at Garrison, where they will take on fifth-seed Washburn in first-round action Thursday at 4 p.m. If the Cougars win, they’ll advance to the semifinal round, taking on the top seed Wilton-Wing, Friday at 4 p.m.
