The Central McLean Cougars made the most of the South Central Region track meet Saturday, earning more state qualifying spots, earning their tickets to this Friday and Saturday’s State Track Meet.
While several of the girls had already qualified for state with the 400-meter and 800-meter relays by time, there was more to come, as sisters Mackenzie and Taysha Snyder punched their own individual tickets to state in the 800-meter open, with Taysha placing second and Mackenzie third in the half-mile race (2:30.77 and 2:2:31.38, respectively).
It won’t just be girls representing the Cougars as senior Marshall LeRoy will be capping his senior athletic season at the state meet, competing in the discus competition after his third-place toss of 126-3.
Freshman Mason Hornberger also nabbed a spot at the state meet, placing third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 46.45.
“We had a great weekend,” commented Cougar coach Lee Weisgarber.
Now the goal is to bring home some hardware from state, he added.
