Cougars looking to hit it harder

The Cougars went 1-3 on the baseball field, struggling to hit the ball in both games of the doubleheader against Minot Ryan on Friday, and struggling to make the plays on defense in the other loss against Surrey Tuesday.
The Cougars won the second end of the doubleheader against Surrey by the score of 6-1, with Parker Heger taking the win. They lost the day’s opener to Surrey by the score of 9-5, and lost both ends of the double-header to Minot Ryan on Friday by scores of 14-1 and 8-5.
“Six hits in 11 innings isn’t going to win many games,” commented Cougar head coach Alex Jangula, regarding the losses to Minot Ryan.
Both the Cougars and Lions were pegged for three errors, but the difference came at the plate, where the Lions were good for eight hits, while Central McLean counted just three.
The Lions also took advantage of some Cougar pitching struggles.
“They scored eight in the sixth because we couldn’t throw strikes, and they took advantage of it,” said Jangula. “Give them credit – they’re a good team.”
