Cougars annihilate Raiders

The Cougars ran roughshod over the Drake-Anamoose Raiders in their first gridiron game of the 2018 season, pummeling the Raiders by the score of 58-8 in Turtle Lake, Friday night.
Senior quarterback Trapper Jacobs had a major part in all four of the Cougars’ first four touchdowns, all of which happened the first quarter, as he scored on the Cougar’ first possession, returning a punt 75 yards for a touchdown. He followed up with an eight-yard TD run and two TD passes to receiver Ty Snyder, combining for 50 yards on those scores.
“Obviously, with that punt return by Trapper, that kind of set us up and from there we were able to run the ball and the offense was able to score a touchdown right away,” said Central McLean Co-Coach Grant Singer.
“I think the guys just came out ready to play,” he added. “They were ready to go from the start.”
The Cougar defense continued to dominate the Raiders the second quarter, keeping them out of the end zone through the first half.
Less than a minute into the second half, Snyder let the Raiders know the offense wasn’t through yet as he scored his third touchdown of the game, this time cruising in from the 48 yard line.
