Cougar tracksters place at state

The five Central McLean Cougars competing at the state track meet this past Friday and Saturday were hoping to make it to the podium, placing among the top eight finishers. That they did as the girls 3200 relay team improved on its personal best time to place eighth with a time of 10:26.82, while jumper Mariah Sellon captured fourth place in the high jump with a leap of 16-8.75
The Cougars tied with Beulah, Shiloh Christian and Benson County for 27th place with six points, while Carrington outlasted Hazen for the team title, counting 87 points.
The two-mile relay team ran the event just three times this season, notching their best time at state with a finish in 10:26.82, cutting off about six seconds from the first time they ran the event back on May 12.
