Cougar throwers dominate at Southern McLean meet

The Southern McLean team dominated on its home track and field Friday afternoon, winning the Southern McLean Invitational meet’s boys and girls divisions. The Central McLean Cougars brought home second place as a team on the wings of first-place finishes from Ty Snyder and Parker Christenson in the 400-meter dash and discus, respectively.
The Cougars dominated the discus event with Christenson’s throw of 124-09 taking the top place. Following him at 133-08 was Preston Christenson placing second, while teammates Nate Sims captured fifth, Connor Meier sixth, and Kayden Hornberger eight. Preston Christenson and Meier both throwing personal bests in the event.
In girls competition, the mile relay team made up of Taysha Snyder, Lexie Jo Jacobson, Lilly Eng and Taya Hornberger placed first in the race with a time of 4:24.51.
Earlier in the week, the mile relay team made up of Snyder, Jacobson, Hornberger and Maggie Eng instead of younger sister Lilly, won their race at the Shiloh Invitational with a time of 4:23.83.
A bigger meet with more teams competing, the Cougars didn’t put as many points on the scoreboard, but still had some to finishes. In addition to the mile relay team, Parker Christenson again took first place in the discus, this time winning with a throw of 132 even.
