Cougar gridders host Shiloh in opener

Central McLean Co-Coach Kurt Ziebarth could be heard Monday telling his players, “Perfect play. . . very, very awesome.” Minutes later, he followed that up with, “Practice harder than you think you can . . . Don’t ever take a day off in practice.” The Cougars are hoping that work ethic will advance them to the playoffs this year, as they hope to improve on last season’s 9-2 record. They’ll have their first challenge this coming Tuesday, when they host Shiloh Christian in 9-man action at Turtle Lake. There will be no early season, “don’t really matter” non-region games, noted co-coach Kevin Dockter. “We have a 9-game season, and they’re all region games,” said Dockter. “We just have to improve as the season goes on. If we work hard, we’ll be all right.”
