Cougar boys take first at Hazen

The sun has been shining on the Cougar track team this last week. The warm temperatures and wind blew in some nice results at both track meets held at Hazen. The boys took home first on Saturday and fifth on Tuesday. The girls managed fifth on Saturday and eleventh place on Tuesday. Head Coach Lee Weisgarber said, "It was nice to see the sun shine at a meet." At the April 21 meet, the boys had another strong meet scoring 70 points and placing fifth overall from a field of 12. All four relay teams placed. The 3200 meter relay team placed fifth, the 800 relay fourth, 400 relay seventh, and 1600 relay brought home a medal placing third. The throwers had a very productive day. Beau Zietz set a personal record in the shot with a put of 42- 04.5. In the discus Reed Hefta placed first with 138-01, Zietz was third, and Ben Duben seventh. The Isaak twins each placed in the high jump with Aaron placing third and Derek sixth. Mick Finneman was a three event placer in the 300 hurdles, 400 relay, and 110 hurdles. Top five scorers for the meet were: Zietz 11, Hefta 10, Finneman 9.5, D. Isaak 6.5, and A. Isaak 6. The girls put 15 points on the board. Alexis Longtin was a three event placer and scored 7.75 points. Jenna Bayless added 4.75 points and Jordyn Sondrol had 2.75. Sondrol placed seventh in the high jump at 4-05.00. The 400 relay placed sixth.
