Comets take two losses in two games

The Underwood boys basketball team kept busy with two games this week. Their schedule started on Tuesday when they hosted Center-Stanton. The Comets fell behind quickly, dropping the lead in the first quarter as Center-Stanton picked up a 23-8 lead. "The Comets dug themselves a hole early and never recovered," said head coach Kyle Hunt, "We cannot afford to spot a team 15 points to start the game." Underwood was unable to gain the lead, closing out the first half at 36-15. The boys picked up a bit of momentum in the second half. Hunt said, "If we played like we did the second half it would have been a much closer game. We outscored them in the second half." Though the Comets put more points on the board in the second and third quarters, they were unable to regain the initial 15-point lead from the first quarter. The game closed out with a 57-44 loss for Underwood. "A bunch of guys played well," Hunt said, "We just can’t get behind early." The boys had a lot of practice time to make adjustments before they traveled to Drake-Anamoose on Monday. "Again the Comets came out slow and got behind early," Hunt said.
