The Underwood Comets split their last two outings on the hard wood this past week, giving them a good indication of what they need to shore up before the District 10 tournament gets underway this Friday in Washburn.
"We are still struggling with our rebounding assignments – we’ll get that shored up before tournaments," noted Comet coach Toni Cottingham, following Tuesday night’s 54-33 win over Flasher.
Senior Abby Landenberger paced the Comets with 15 points, while fellow senior Emma Lee tossed in 12 points. Lee also set a personal record of nine steals for a game.
"I thought we got after things a little more on the defensive end," said Cottingham. Lee’s steals were just a portion of the 34 give-aways the Bulldogs handed the Comets, while Underwood managed the ball better with just 13 turnovers.
After struggling offensively of late, things seemed to turn back around for the Comet girls.
