The Underwood Comet girls were missing a key cog in their arsenal for much of Thursday night’s game against Linton-HMB, as senior sharp-shooter Taysha Snyder found herself on the bench each in the game with three fouls in the first stanza.
Snyder still scored 25 points in the game, even though she rode the bench the entire second quarter and some of the first, but LHMB took advantage of her absence, rolling to a 74-46 win, upping their record to 9-1 while dropping the Comets to 6-3.
The Comets and LHMB battled to an 18-17 score at the end of the first quarter, but with Snyder on the bench, the Lions roared forward to a 41-25 edge at the half.
“That made it a little more difficult for us because of our foul situation and some kids not being able to play, they kind of disrupted what we were trying to do,” commented Underwood Head Coach Gary Ballard.
“We worked hard, but our scoring fell off and then we weren’t executing as well defensively either,” he added. “They’re a very good team – they’re very good at what they do.
