Comets net first district win
By Mary Hefta
The Comet volleyball team has been competing for a month, however, none of the matches have counted toward the district standings. The Comets finally got a district game under their belts after defeating the Garrison – Max Troopers last Tuesday night. The Comets have struggled lately to get their offense running but in the match against the Troopers, the Comets played strong offensively and were able to control the tempo of the match. Junior hitter Alix Auck led the team with kills with 14, while senior Becca Lawson added six kills to the victory. Junior Chlorisa Hirschkorn slammed down five kills and sophomore hitter Taylor Sorensen added three kills. Senior setter Crystal Dammen set up the ball 15 times to quarterback the offense. Sorensen had three service aces while Hirschkorn and Dammen each added one ace in the victory.
