The Underwood Comets saw the ups and downs of volleyball this past week, knocking off Glenburn in regular-season action by the score of 3-1, then faltering at the Center Invitational, where they placed third in the silver division.
"The Center Tournament is a great tournament because we play some teams that we don’t normally play," commented Underwood coach Mary Hefta.
This time, however, the teams in the silver division of the tournament were all District 10 teams.
After falling to Grant County by game scores of 25-19 and 25-20 in pool play, the Comets found themselves in the silver division, where they took on Washburn in the first game, falling by a score of 2-1.
"We played well and split in the first two sets but didn’t play well in set three," said Hefta. "We learned a lot from that loss, and I know we will see a great deal of improvement as we prepare to play our first District 10 match of the season against Wilton-Wing."
The Comets topped Garrison for third place in the silver division.
