The Underwood Comets girls’ basketball team was ready to play some more basketball on Monday night. After a long week off, the Comets traveled to Drake to take on the Drake-Anamoose Raiders in non-district action. The first quarter was played very equally with each team scoring just six points. However, the second quarter blues hit the Comets while the Raiders went on a 19-point scoring drive, nailing five three-pointers in the last three minutes of the half. After the halftime break, the Comets were able to chip away at the Raider lead, trailing by 11 at the end of the third quarter. The fourth quarter the Comet girls decided to step it up a notch, and after some big baskets by sophomore Emma Lee and some steals by fellow sophomore Abby Landenberger, the Comets came within three points, 31-34, with 1:26 left in regulation.
