Comet boys hoopsters looking for consistency

For Underwood Boys Basketball Head Coach Alex Jangula, the outcome of Saturday’s overtime battle with Richardton-Taylor didn’t hinge on who performed better in the extra minutes of the game.
It was who performed better the previous four quarters of the shoot-out game in Underwood. And in at least one aspect, the Comets were left wanting.
“When you turn the ball over 34 times, it’s hard to win a game,” said Jangula. “We just didn’t take care of the ball -- 34 turnovers is way too many.”
Despite the number of turnovers, Underwood led at each of the breaks, taking a 42-38 lead into the final stanza.
The Comets struggled to get a potent offensive attack going from the outside the second half, as 13 of the team’s 26 second-half regulation points came from Marshall LeRoy in the paint, cashing in on some second-chance shots off of offensive boards.
“We out-rebounded them by 14,” noted Jangula, which makes the loss statistically even more surprising.
