Co-coaches for volleyball

Volleyball practice starts for grades seven through 12 this Monday, at 8 a.m., with co-coaches taking the helm of the program.
With veteran coach Mary Hefta stepping aside after last season, the Comets were left scrambling to find a head coach, as nobody was stepping up to take on the position. That is, until Tuesday morning with Underwood School Supt./Activities Director Brandt Dick met with staff members to make one final push to see if someone would take on the position.
He got not only one person, but two, as Clarissa Kruger and Teresa Pleinis will be co-coaches for the varsity Comets.
“And also they’re going to help with junior high and JV, too,” said Supt. Dick. They are going to be our volleyball program.
Pleinis comes to the court with several years of volleyball coaching experience in South Dakota, while Kruger has been with the Comet volleyball program as an assistant/JV coach for the past four years.
