Central McLean Cougar gridders go 1-1 early

By Suzanne Werre, BHG News Service

The Central McLean Cougars started the 2012 gridiron season with a bump in the road last Tuesday, opening the season at Turtle Lake with a 38-32 loss to Shiloh Christian, but found their footing Saturday at Dickinson, defeating Beach 24-12. The Cougars will take their 1-1 record up against perennial powerhouse Mott this Friday at Underwood. “Mott is a very good team,” noted Cougar coach Kevin Dockter.  “They like to throw the ball a lot, so that’s something we’ll have to look for. “The last week, it was just so hectic,” he added. “We had two games within five days. It is just going to be nice to have a whole week and play at home, so I’m looking forward to that.” The Cougars made some changes in where people were playing following last Tuesday’s loss, and it showed on the line, where the Cougars were able to open up a few more holes in the middle.
