Athletes earn regional honors
Center-Stanton took top honors in the tournament, and its coach and one of its seniors took top honors as well, as Coach Janet Erhardt was named Region 5 Coach of the Year, and Wildcat senior Morgan Vitek was named Senior Athlete of the Year.
Local athletes named to the All Region team are Morgan Reiser of Turtle Lake-Mercer-McClusky and Taysha Snyder of Underwood.
Others named to the All Region team are: Amber Frank, Ashley Frank and Vitek from Center-Stanton; Rachel Mischel Graycin Wanzek and Josie Griess; Kaitlyn Klein and Alyssa Huston of Garrison; Morgan Reiser of Turtle Lake-Mercer-McClusky; Madelyn Jennings of Washburn; Hailey Quam of Wilton-Wing; Fayth Hoger of New Salem-Almont; and Tymber Boldt of Flasher
Several awards were presented at Thursdays Region 5 volleyball tournament. The region’s coaches selected 15 athletes to the All Region 5 volleyball team, a coach of the year and senior athlete of the year. Several students from each of the region’s teams were also recently named to the All-Academic First team, having earned grade point averages of 3.79 or higher.
