Workers put the finishing touches on Underwood Inn
By Michael Johnson, Editor
This summer when Underwood fills up, whether it be for the Relay For Life, the McLean County Fair, the Harvest Festival or any number of events, there will be a few more places for visitors to stay the night. The Underwood Inn should help to fill the need that the Underwood Commercial Properties (UCP) members feel is present every time there is an influx of visitors. The eight-room, 10-bed motel is tentatively set to open its doors May 1, according to UCP treasurer Diane Schell. She said the plan is to have an open house welcoming the community in to see the makeover that has taken place at the old V and S Building. John Wangen and James Graves, both of Minnesota, have been doing the majority of the remodeling on the Underwood Inn. Wangen said that when they first found out about the job in Underwood they weren’t sure what to think. "We didn’t know if we’d be here two weeks or two months," Wangen said.
