Weisgarber will fill principal position

By Michael Johnson, Editor

For the past two decades Lee Weisgarber has been sending students to the principal’s office. This fall teachers will be sending students to him. Weisgarber, 44, has been selected as the next high school principal for Underwood School to fill the position principal Gene Utecht is leaving vacant after the end of this year. Technically Weisgarber doesn’t start his principal career until this school year ends but he’s already been taking a swing at administrative duties this spring. When principal Utecht had to be out of town two weeks ago Weisgarber got to handle the disciplinary issues at the school for a couple days. He said it’s a bit of a switch but he’ll take it in stride. Weisgarber has taught elementary for 18 years in Underwood and about two years in Minnesota. He started working with students after two years of college while going to Minot State University. Techno speak is what Weisgarber is all about. He’s been the technology coordinator at the school for the past eight years and spends a lot of his time troubleshooting computer problems for teaching staff and setting up new technology for students.
