Weather puts chill on holiday events
By Julie Arbach
A winter storm that blew into the area on Saturday with sub-zero wind chills, snow and nearly zero visibility didn’t stop little shoppers from filling their Christmas lists. Young shoppers and their chaperones bundled up and braved the elements for the Underwood Civic Club’s Kids Shopping and Santa Day activities. According to weather observer for The Underwood News, Larry Dziuk, Underwood received about seven inches of snow. Dziuk said because of the strong winds it was tough to measure, but that was his best estimate. The Senior Citizen’s Center provided a noon luncheon, along with bars for the Bingo crowd and pie in the afternoon. There was a nice crowd on hand for Bingo, with those in attendance viewing and voting on the creatively decorated Christmas trees that lined the gym at city hall.
