Water tower build slows

There’s been some progress on the city’s new water tower, but the likelihood is that it won’t be finished this fall. That’s according to Turtle Lake City Auditor Darwin Saari, who updated the city commissioners at this past week’s regular commission meeting.
“It might get done this year, we’ll see, but it might not – that’s basically where we’re at,” said Saari. “Scheduling with other contractors and with the painting and work you can only do that when the weather is above a certain temperature. Basically construction slowed down and it might not get done this fall.”
Saari had a good idea the construction was behind schedule at the recent steering committee meeting where several local business people and other city representatives met to start working on a strategic plan for the city.
“That seemed to go well,” he noted.
The steering committee will be working on coming up with ways to improve and build on what the city already offers. The five businesses that will be getting some face lifts this fall are getting a head start on that project due to funds from Gov. Doug Burgum’s Main Street Initiative.
