Ever since the announcement that a Ward County man was diagnosed with a presumptive case of COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus, regional health institutions have been urging the public not to panic while also taking precautions and preparing for additional cases. COVID-19 isn’t a joke. “It’s the real deal,” said a health care provider at Turtle
Lake’s CHI St. Alexius Health in response to a comment that the pandemic is overblown. The hospital has instituted visit limitations of one-to-two people at a time visiting patients, many of whom are considered high-risk if they should contract the virus.
All of the visitors will go through a screening process, as well, said Kathy Hanson, Turtle Lake CHI St. Alexius Health Assistant Administrator. The clinic at the hospital,
as well as the CHI clinic in Washburn, and Underwood Clinic are all instituting the same protocol if someone is concerned that they’ve been exposed to COVID-19.
