Underwood’s garbage in demand

Another waste disposal business threw its hat in the ring to serve Underwood, as Circle Sanitation’s representatives, Trina Holter and Brian Hruby, were on hand Monday night at the regular city commission meeting in Underwood.
Underwood’s contract with Waste Management will be up at the end of the year, and commissioners are weighing their options as to whether to renew with WM or not.
Commissioners had a few questions for Holter and Hruby, who noted that Circle Sanitation does garbage pickup and removal for Wilton, Pick City, Riverdale, Stanton and rural Coleharbor.
Commissioner Ethan Vaagene asked what they charge for a second tote, and was told $4, and that pickup would be done once a week for residential, possibly twice for commercial if needed. They provide roll-offs for spring cleanup and grass clippings, which would be worked into the bid. Circle usually likes to do a five-year contract, although three years would be possible. The city would want a bid for residential as well as commercial.
