After the July 13 vote, Underwood voters opted to increase the ambulance mill levy from five to 15 mills. Certified by the board of
directors on July 26, the official vote count was 76 in favor and 41 opposed. “Now that the increase has been approved, the next step is to work out staffing compensation with the assistance of Goldstar Solut ions,” Ambulance District Chairman Brad Landenberger said. The Underwood Ambulance service consulted with Goldstar Solutions from Bismarck to calculate the funding required. The increased levy is a response
to the squad’s inability to maintain an adequate on-call volunteer staff, according to Landenberger. At five mills, the service brought in $49,777 per year.
