Underwood takes first and second at McLean County Spelling Bee
Each year the schools in McLean County send their three best spellers to the spelling bee at Washburn High School. This year it was Thursday, Feb. 1.
The first round of the spelling bee is a written word round. The participants were given 50 words, and the top seven students with the most words spelled correctly moved onto the oral round.
It took nine rounds to whittle down to the last two contestants, that just happened to be two eighth graders from Underwood School; River Kjelstrup and Bentlee Kuhn with Kjelstrup coming out with the winning word.
