UCP moves ahead with new restaurant

By Michael Johnson, Editor

An unlikely outcome of the recent burning of T-Bones Restaurant is the opportunity for the community to buy into a new restaurant through a local cooperation, Underwood Commercial Properties  (UCP). UCP worked with the contractor of Fine Line Kitchen Designs to remodel the Underwood Inn. They decided to go with the same contractor to remodel their other building, the Small Business Development Center(SBDC) into a new restaurant. Jim LeRoy, a member of the UCP, said that he is excited about the move to turn the building into a restaurant. He brought the idea forward at a past meeting, citing that the community needed a place to eat. The cost to remodel the building was estimated at about $70,000. LeRoy said they have almost reached that goal without going out into the community seeking more share holders. The cost includes all new equipment for a kitchen and a revamping of the interior and exterior of the building.
